How Froggington Ambulance Service Began:
As an active Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) in emergency response, I’ve seen firsthand how intimidating a medical emergency can be to a child. Froggington Ambulance Service truly began after I attended an event at a local elementary school. During the visit, I learned about a young kindergartener terrified of ambulances after recently witnessing a traumatic event involving a family member.
Wanting to turn that fear into comfort, I set out to create a program that helps children of all ages understand EMS—showing them that while our work may look intimidating, it is ultimately there to help and save lives. To bridge the gap, I introduced a familiar, friendly character: a puppet teaching hands-only CPR.
What started as a single puppet interaction has since grown into a comprehensive community program. Today, children can explore tactile, kid-sized equipment that mimics real-life medical gear through safe, hands-on play. Inspired by the joy and connection of these live events, I decided to expand Froggington’s mission even further by turning our activities into narrative storybooks, allowing these educational adventures to reach and grow with even more children.
